WHAT IS NAML?
NAML (National Association of Muslim Lawyers) is the premiere association for Muslim lawyers and legal professionals in the United States. We serve this diverse community through providing networking and mentorship services, organizing educational programs on current legal topics of interest, supporting regional Muslim bar associations, and serving the law-related needs of the general public through community service efforts.
NAML began in 1996 as an email listserve (now with over 700 members), and quickly evolved over the next few years to become formally incorporated as a nonprofit professional organization. NAML’s hallmark events are our national conferences, which are held in major cities around the country, and have featured keynote addresses from key legal figures such as Senator Russ Feingold, and California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno, among others.
In 2016, NAML’s board of directors was restructured to represent each major regional Muslim bar association around the country. This nationally-networked team now leads NAML’s activities with a focus on the active and rapidly changing professional landscape for Muslim lawyers.
